• FNQ Hospital Foundation Cardiac Challenge 333km Cairns to Cooktown Ride: I completed the ride for the 14th time in 2024 with supporter rewards.
  And now I am participating in the 2025 effort (and there is again a supporter reward)!
• The Smith Family charity supports tens of thousands of school students in its learning for life program (but more support is needed);
• I'm trying to become better at engineering;
• Interested in a smarter & fairer Australia, and not a dumber & more cruel Australia, so I am a member of the Greens (QLD branches)

• My technology startup experience reinforced my understanding of the importance of education and so I set up some JCU student prizes: Don Close Prize in Software Engineering, John Ridd prize in mathematics, and Bev Frangos prize in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science
